In addition, the book reviews the regional patterns of lordship, and concludes with an examination of lordship from 1770 to 1789, the years immediately preceding the French Revolution. About the Author The Author: James Lowth Goldsmith, formerly Professor of History at the University of Oklahoma, is now retired. He received his Ph.D. in history of Early Modern France from Harvard University. He is the author of Lordship in France, 500-1500 (Peter Lang, 2003).
