The editor of The Asian American Encyclopedia, he is also the co-editor of New Visions in Asian American Studies: Diversity, Community, Power, the author of Chinese Americans Struggle for Equality, and has written articles for anthologies and journals. He serves as the editor of the Journal of American-East Asian Relations and is on the editorial board of the Amerasia Journal.
