A graduate of Saint Anselm College and Boston College, Dr. Sheldon received her Doctor of Philosophy from the College of Nursing at the University of Utah with a focus on cancer control and research. Her program of research focuses on patient-provider communication, patient distress and oncology nursing. Recent publications include Communication for Nurses: Talking with Patients (2nd Edition), Quick Look Nursing: Oxygenation, and numerous articles. In addition to teaching, Dr. Sheldon provides direct care to oncology patients receiving treatment as well as presenting locally and nationally on communication research, nursing care delivery, and oncology issues. She is a founding partner of Barrett & Sheldon LLC, a corporation focusing on health care research and nursing services development.
