Description

Product Description Based mainly on unknown Russian archival sources which have previously been unobtainable, this book analyses the Bolshevik concepts of the Chinese revolution and their reception in China. Issues include the role of the three Bolshevik leaders, Lenin, Stalin, and Trotsky in trying to lead the Chinese Communists to victory, the real nature of the Trotsky-Stalin split in the Comintern, and a dramatic history of the Chinese Oppositionist movement in Soviet Russia. Review 'Alexander Pantsov is one of the most able scholars to have taken advantage of these new research opportunities, by exploitng masses of previously inaccessible Russian archival sources.' - International Review of Social History From the Publisher Bolshevik concepts and their reception in China Based mainly on Russian archival sources which have been unobtainable previously, this book analyses the Bolshevik concepts of Chinese revolution and their reception in China. The voluminous records and files preserved for decades in secret in former closed archives of the Communist International and Soviet Communist Party enable the author to take a fresh look at this question. The book incorporates these new documents into a scientific study and on that basis explores the essence of the Russian Bolshevik strategy and tactics in China, as elaborated in 1919-1927. It also determines the influence these concepts exerted on the Chinese Communist party through an analysis of the way various adherents of the Chinese Communist movement perceived them. Issues include the role of the three Bolshevik leaders, Lenin, Stalin and Trotsky in trying to lead the Chinese Communists to victory, the real nature of the Trotsky-Stalin split in the Comintern, and a dramatic history of the Chinese Oppositionist movement in Soviet Russia. The book is designed for professors and students specialising in history and political science as well as for a broad audience of readers interested in comparative analysis of the Russian and Chinese revolutions, history of Bolshevism and the Left Opposition.
