This third and last of the trilogy of personal short stories depicting the life of musician and author, Gene Brown, picks up where book two, "Alaska To Asia," leaves off. The first book in the series is "An Alaskan Childhood." In that prior book, he was leaving Japan and his first tour of duty with a Navy unit band, Com7thFleet, stationed aboard the USS Providence, CLG-6. This was the flagship for the Vice Admiral, Thomas H. Moorer, who commanded the most prestigious naval armada afloat during the Vietnam War. And Brown was privileged to be the lead trumpet player in that band.Concurrent with that departure from C7F, he was leaving the woman with whom he had, finally, made a commitment to marry - and this time, for real. Yes, there had been prior infatuations and pledges to marry, but they were surface feelings based more on the desire to procreate than a deep-seated love and respect for his partner. The question still remained, however, whether Brown would, and even could, learn lessons from his mangled relationships with young women with whom he was enamored, or would he continue to blunder along, damaging this new relationship and the woman he said he loved.
