Enneagram Instinctual Subtypes 2.0: Advanced Instincts, Subtypes, Countertypes and Stackings

Includes an Introduction to the Enneagram Types, Tritypes®, Wings, Lines, and Centers Katherine Chernick Fauvre, the creator of the Tritype® Archetypes, the Stacking Patterns: Order, Proportions, and Identifications, and the Countertypes, has the distinction of being the only person to have attended intensives with both Oscar Ichazo (creator of the Enneagram of Personality) and Claudio Naranjo (creator of the Subtypes), with Naranjo validating her 1994 qualitative research on the Types and Instinctual Subtypes in 1996. Katherine is also a triple-certified Enneagram teacher, holding certifications from the early programs, including: the Enneagram in the Narrative Tradition with Palmer-Daniels, the Enneagram Institute with Riso-Hudson, and the Breakthrough Method with Hurley-Donson. She served on the board of directors of the International Enneagram Association from 1997 to 1999. A personality expert, Katherine, who had worked with many personality systems, discovered the Enneagram in 1985 and immediately added it to her consulting business, correlating the Enneagram with multiple personality typologies and launching the first of her 24 Enneagram research studies on the "internal experiences" of the Enneagram Types and Subtypes in 1994. During her initial study, she discovered the 27 Tritype® Archetypes, 27 Subtype Countertypes, and the Hierarchical Stacking Patterns: Orders, Proportions, and Identifications. Her work builds upon Ichazo's Enneagram Types and Instinctual Drives (introduced in 1970), and Naranjo's Instinctual Subtypes (introduced in 1971), along with her ongoing additions based on her original research findings. This groundbreaking research is ongoing and continues to evolve, most recently culminating in her most advanced and comprehensive work on the Subtypes: Enneagram Instinctual Subtypes 2.0. This in-depth, 390-page "Megabook" presents extensive insights supported by her research, as well as visual aids, including Enneamaps, collages, and easy-to-reference charts, to illustrate how the topics relate to the Enneagram. Katherine's additions of Instinctual Types, Subtypes, Countertypes, and Stackings Katherine's focus on the Enneagram Types and Subtypes began in 1985, when the general public's knowledge of these distinctions was limited. Her research explored how the core fears of the 9 Enneagram Types merge with the core fears of the 3 Instinctual Types, creating 27 Instinctual Subtypes. Each Type expresses its Idealized Images, Core Fears, and Defense Strategies in distinct ways through each of the three subtypes: Self-Preservation, Social, or Intimate. These Subtypes, discovered by Naranjo and further developed by Katherine, with her additions of the Countertypes and the Subtype Stacking Patterns, added a layer of complexity to the expression of the types, shaping how motivations manifest in self-care (sp), social interactions (so), and intimacy (sx). Naranjo validated Katherine's Subtype research findings and stated they filled in important details on the 27 Subtype Archetypes. Tritype® and Tristar Katherine's research includes Tritype®, a framework now central to Enneagram studies. Her qualitative research revealed that individuals draw upon a dominant type from each of the three centers of intelligence: the Head, Heart, and Gut in a repetitive, hierarchical, stacking order. The 27 Tritypes® represent distinct blends of three types. These three types combine, contributing their specific focus of attention: Idealized Images, Core Fears, and Defense Strategies to form a unique personality structure. Identifying the Types within a person's Tritype® combination expands their understanding of their intrinsic yet multi-layered emotional, mental, and behavioral patterns. The Tristar symbol is a visual representation of the unfolding of the 27 Tritype® Archetypes.
