Bloomsbury The T&T Clark Companion to Reformation Theology (Continuum Companions) (Bloomsbury Companions)

Review ‘David Whitford has succeeded in bringing those specialists together that have given in this book a full oversight of the theology of the Reformation in all of its variety. Latest results of research, a fine combination of theology and history and an accessible style make this book into one of the leading handbooks on our way to 2017 and beyond.' - Herman Selderhuis, Theological University Apledoorn, The Netherlands -- Herman Selderhuis‘Whitford opens this overture to Reformation theology with a wise essay on how neophytes might take their first steps in the discipline. In what follows, eighteen seasoned pros weigh in with substantial contributions on the classical loci, salient themes, and neuralgic issues.A fine starting point for graduate students and seminarians.' - Denis R. Janz, Loyola University New Orleans, USA -- Denis R. JanzThe Companion has a clear focus and readership in mind, both of which remain consistent throughout. This is a sign of an excellent editor. The contributions are genuinely thought-provoking and challenging towards further research... The quality of the content is uniform throughout, not one essay stands out as less useful or less well written than the others... So, a volume which surprises in many ways. A volume which will be extremely useful to those writing essays or starting research, to be sure; but a volume that will be helpful to those of us further down the research path too. I recommend this book without reserve. It certainly accomplishes what it sets out to do. -- Michael Parsons, Spurgeon's College, London, UK ― Baptist Quarterly Published On: 2013-04-15 Product Description About the Author David Whitford is professor in the Dept. of Religion at Baylor University, USA.
