Since the 1960s there has been a considerable growth in a new form of voluntary action through the emergence of self-help and mutual aid groups. Various forms of grant aid from the state have encouraged many local groups to establish their work more firmly by employing their own field workers. The book aims to provide an analysis of the management tasks and processes which face those who take part in the activities of voluntary organizations.
