About the Author Zizi Papacharissi is Professor and Head of the Communication Department, University of Illinois-Chicago. Her research focuses on the social and political uses of newer media, and has appeared in New Media & Society, Harvard Journal of International Press & Politics, and the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, among other journals. She is currently working on The Networked Self, an edited volume on online social networks, and A Private Sphere, a monograph volume on contemporary and digitally enabled modes of civic engagement.
