About the Author David W. Galenson is Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. He is author of Painting Outside the Lines (Harvard University Press, 2002) and editor of Markets in History (Cambridge University Press, 1989). He has published in the Journal of political Economy, Journal of Economic History and many other leading journals.
