This book originated in a workshop on Rock Mechanics with Emphasis on In-Situ Stress. The areas of focus includes a deeper understanding of large earthquake focal mechanics, the "Hot Dry Rock" (HDR) concept of geothermal energy exploitation, and the development of strategies for the stimulation of deep-seated fresh water reservoirs.
