Description

The book is focused on theoretical and experimental investigation aimed at detecting and selecting proper information related to the fundamental aspect of combustion casing design,performance and life evaluation parameters. A rational approach has been adopted to the analysis domain underlying the complexities of the process. About the Author Niranjan Sarangi, son of Shri Duryodhan Sarangi and Smt. Indumati Sarangi was born on May 03, 1970 in Jajpur district of Orissa State, India. He completed his 10th Class Board Examination from Purushottampur High School, Kabirpur, Jajpur and 10+2 (Intermediate) CHSE Examination from N.C. College, Jajpur, Orissa, all in First Division. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering in the year 1992 from University College of Engineering, Burla with First Division. He completed his Post-Graduate Degree (M. Tech.) with Specialization in Production Engineering from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), Varanasi in the month of July 1995. From August 1995 to August 1996, he has joined the faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department of Gangamai College of Engineering, Dhule, Maharashtra. He joined Institute of Armament Technology (IAT) of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Pune as Scientist-B in September 1996. He was posted to Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) of DRDO in Bangalore in March 1997 and till date, he is continuing as a scientist in GTRE, Bangalore, India. At present he is working as a Scientist-F in GTRE. During his tenure in GTRE he has been involved in structural integrity testing of critical aero engine components for their design validation and airworthiness certification. His research interests also include evaluation of fatigue life and safety capability of aero engine components for their airworthiness certification. During the 2007 to 2013 he has been engaged for the Ph.D. Dissertation work on "Fatigue life evaluation of an aero engine combustor casing" in Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, (Deemed University), Pune while in service at GTRE, Bangalore. He has published some good quality research papers in peer reviewed International Journals and presented several research papers in various International and National Conferences. DR SASHI KANTA PANIGRAHI (PhD, IIT Kharagpur) is working as Dean (Students Affair) and Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (Under Ministry of Defence, Government of India), Pune, India. Before he joined DIAT, he was working in many other University/Institution within the country. He has also worked as an International Visiting Academic with University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy. He has a wide and intensive teaching, research, training and administrative experience after completing his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He obtained his Bachelor degree and Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from Veer Surendra Sai Technical University (VSSUT), formerly known as University College Engineering (UCE), Burla and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela. His research works primarily in the areas of Analysis and Design of composite materials, Characterization of FRP composite materials, Finite Element Analysis of FRP composite materials and composite structures, Natural Fiber Reinforced Composite (NFRC) materials, Fracture Mechanics principle applicable to modelling and simulation of damages in orthotropic and isotropic materials and material characterization/Stress analysis/Solid Mechanics/Machine design. He has been working on the development of advanced finite element methods and nonlinear finite element modelling and analyses of engineering structures with functionally graded/monolithic adhesively bonded joints. He has published over 150 research articles in peer-reviewed scholarly research
