He completed his PhD in spatial data quality at the University of Glasgow, UK, at the end of 1999, and worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Keele, UK. He is currently co-authoring, with Michael Worboys, the second edition of the text book Geographic Information Systems: A Computing Perspective.
