Throughout the cases, larger themes are traced, connecting trade with economic policy, foreign policy with domestic politics, and change in U.S. economic strength with the rise of new economic powers in the world arena." About the Author Robert S. Walters is professor of political science at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of American and Soviet Aid: A Comparative Analysis and coauthor (with David H. Blake) of The Politics of Global Economic Relations, now in its fourth edition. His present research is focused on competitiveness policies.
