Description

Full information - including a downloadable demo - is available on the SNAP website: www.SNAPassessment.com SNAP is designed for use by SENCOs, learning support and specialist teachers in primary and secondary schools and assessment centres. It requires no specific training, and brings new insights and order to the practical diagnosis of learning difficulties. The CD-ROM comes with a two-year, single-user licence. SNAP is a computer-aided diagnostic assessment and profiling package which: - is user-friendly, systematic and comprehensive: it maps each pupil's own mix of problems onto an overall matrix of learning, social and personal difficulties; - gives a structured diagnostic profile across 18 specific learning difficulties and related factors, including self-esteem; - helps to identify clusters of problems and the core features of a pupil's difficulties; - points the way to the most appropriate teaching and/or specialist provision; - generates information sheets which will help to strengthen home and teacher support; - can give insight into the effectiveness of any intervention. New features for Version 2 include: NEW - an optional 4-page What I Feel self-esteem questionnaire (included in the Pupil Assessment Pack); NEW - an expanded profile, now also identifying low Social and Educational Self-esteem; Information Processing has also been subdivided into Processing Speed and Auditory Processing, each with their own information sheets; NEW - practical advice for the class teacher on how different learning styles can interact with each SpLD; NEW - updated resource listings on the information sheets; NEW - now even more intuitive and easy to use. SNAP involves four straightforward steps: Step 1 (Pupil Assessment Pack): class teacher(s) and parents complete structured questionnaire checklists, to give an initial 'outline map' of the pupil's difficulties. Step 2 (CD-ROM): the questionnaire responses are collated onto the CD-ROM, pinpointing any follow-up assessments needed at Step 3. Step 3 (User's Kit): focused assessments from the photocopiable resource bank of quick diagnostic 'probes' give a fuller understanding of specific problem areas. Step 4 (CD-ROM): a computer-generated profile gives a textured overview of the pupil's difficulties plus specific suggestions for support in school and at home (including personalised information sheets for parents) and practical follow-up. The User's Kit provides full information for administering and interpreting SNAP, and includes the photocopiable diagnostic probes. The Pupil Assessment Pack contains ten copies each of the SNAP Pupil Assessment Questionnaire, Information from the Family and (optional) What I Feel(self-esteem) questionnaire. Note for existing SNAP users: Version 2 will not alter pupil assessment data files already stored on the same computer. On first loading, it will detect these data files and import them intact into the database for SNAP Version 2, where they will remain accessible through the 'Existing Pupils' list.
