This book reviews the most recently published empirical research findings on these subjects as well as results from a survey of the attitudes of ten thousand college and university students in forty-four countries towards authority, democracy, nationalism, militarism, internationalism, and educational policy choices. One interesting finding is that (cross-nationality) higher authoritarianism levels translate into lower scores on democratic attitudes and internationalism, higher ones on nationalism and militarism scores, and support for more conservative and provincial (and monocultural) educational policy options. About the Author RUSSELL FARNEN is Professor of Political Science at the University of Connecticut. He has served as Managing Editor of Politics, Groups, and the Individual since 1998 and was former chair and current co-chair of IPSA's Research Committee on Political Socialization and Education. JOS MELOEN is Senior Researcher and Project Leader in Sociology at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands. He has been active in the ISPP, founded the Dutch Political Psychology Association and helped to launch the international journal for political psychology, socialization and education, Politics, Groups and the Individual.
