His studies on endothelium-derived factors that regulate blood pressure and vascular tone identified the major vasoactive metabolites of arachidonic acid that are produced by the vascular endothelium. He has consistently made major contributions in research, teaching and service to various institutions and to the scientific community in general. Dr. Campbell has received numerous awards for his research including the Research Career Development Award from the National Institutes of Health.
