He earned his bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Technology from the University of Calcutta (College of Ceramic Technology) and M.Tech. in Materials Science from IIT Kanpur, India. He was also the recipient of the prestigious ORS Award and the Tetley & Lupton Scholarship during his PhD at the University of Leeds, UK (2005–2009). After he completed his PhD, he joined the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials (IMRAM) at Tohoku University, Japan, as a post-doctoral fellow. For a brief time, he also worked as a Research Associate with Prof. Atul H. Chokshi at IISc Bangalore (Dept. of Materials Engineering).
