About the Author Sarath Perera graduated from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka with a BSc (Eng) specialising in Power. He obtained his MEngSc from the University of New South Wales and PhD from the University of Wollongong. He has been on the academic staff at the University of Wollongong since 1988. His current research interests are in the general area of power quality and in particular harmonics, voltage fluctuations and flicker and voltage unbalance. He also has strong interests in modelling and simulation. He is the Chair of the Technical Committee on Power Quality (EL-034) of the Standards Australia Committee. He has been, and is, an active contributor to several CIGRE working groups. He is currently the Technical Director of the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre.
