The years 1760 to 1789 mark the political birth of the United States; simultaneously, an emancipation of American scientific endeavor from the influence of England and Europe was taking place. In addition to academic degrees in chemistry and library science, she has special and public library experience. Mrs. Harkanyi is member of SLA, ASEE, History of Science Society, History of Technology Society, and Beta Phi Mu, the International Library Science Honor Fraternity. She has also published a number of bibliographies, including The Aztecs, Chemistry, and Sunbeams and Solar Energy, and she co-authored an article published in Library Resources and Technical Services.
