A monumental new work of scholarship on a luminary of twentieth-century art Embracing factory methods of construction, building on the legacy of cubism, and turning his back on European carving and casting traditions, David Smith (1906–1965) transformed postwar sculpture. Krauss in 1977. With Christopher Lyon as Editor and Project Manager and Susan J. Cooke as Research Editor, the volumes also contain a Foreword by Rebecca and Candida Smith, essays by Michael Brenson, Sarah Hamill, Marc-Christian Roussel, Christopher Lyon, and a chronology by Tracee Ng.
