The code includes four main categories of topics: · Provisions common to all courts, such as action, jurisdiction, grounds of defense, and settlement · Specific provisions relating to each court, including regional, district, local, criminal, and commercial courts · Specific provisions with respect to certain matters, such as persons, matrimonial regimes, obligations, and contracts · Arbitration, which focuses on arbitration agreements, proceedings, the arbitral award, rights of recourse, international arbitration, and recognition, enforcement, and recourses. Because the civil code is frequenty updated, the current up-to-date version is a must-have for any business or academic institution. About the Author Nicolas Brooke read law at the Panthéon-Sorbonne University, Paris (obtaining a postgraduate degree in International Commercial Law in 1999) and at King's College, London (obtaining an LLM in 2000). He was called to the Paris Bar in 2004. Nicolas Brooke is based in Paris and is a member of the Dispute Resolution Group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He advises and acts for clients before the French courts and in international arbitral proceedings, in the areas of banking, telecommunications and energy law. He is fluent in French and English and competent in Spanish and German.
