Using relatively limited text content and preferentially applying the physiologic, clinical, and therapeutic principles through illustrations and case studies of disorders of gastrointestinal motility and function, Dr. Michael Camilleri relied on more than 3 decades of clinical experience at Mayo Clinic to craft a text that is unique among textbooks dealing with gastrointestinal motility disorders. Forty percent of patients evaluated in clinical gastroenterologic practice have gastrointestinal motility and functional disorders. Thus, this illustrated textbook is a valuable resource for gastroenterologists in training and practice, internal medicine physicians, and neurologists with an interest in autonomic nervous system disorders that frequently manifest with gastrointestinal symptoms.
