Topics which have increased in importance in recent years have been added; among these are liquid crystal polymers, conducting polymers, thermoplastic elastomers, degradable polymers, and polymer blends. It should also serve as an introduction to the field for the industrial chemist with no prior training in polymer chemistry, or as a reference source for the practising polymer chemist.
