Review Provides the fundamentals of photoelectrocatalysis, along with details about its most common applications From the Back Cover <p>The main advantages of a photoelectrocatalytic process includes mild experimental conditions under which the reactions are carried out, which are often atmospheric pressure and room temperature using cheap and non-toxic solvents (e.g. water), oxidants (e.g. O2 from air), catalytic materials (e.g. TiO2 on Ti layer), and the potential exploitation of solar light. <i>Photoelectrocatalysis: Fundamentals and Applications</i> presents a unique review of the topic for use to both students and researches who work on all scientific fields of photoelectrocatalysis from pure chemistry, to materials and environmental chemistry in order to propose applications and new perspectives. This book presents both the fundamental and applications of photoelectrocatalysis such as hydrogen production from water splitting, remediation of harmful compounds and CO2 reduction. Photoelectrocatalytic reactors and light sources along with kinetic aspects are also presented. In addition, photoelectrocatalysis relationship with photocatalysis and electrocatalysis  are also included along with photoelectrocatalytic green chemistry which is just a growing field of research . </p> About the Author Leonardo Palmisano is a professor of chemistry at the Università di Palermo, Italy. His research focuses mainly on heterogeneous photocatalysis. He has visited many laboratories around the world and has coordinated many research projects. Prof. Palmisano has published more than 300 joint papers in international journals, about 400 papers in proceedings of national and international conferences, and many scientific and didactical books. Sedat Yurdakal was born in Birecik (Sanliurfa, Turkey) in 1977. He received his high degree in chemistry, in 2000, at the University of Anadolu, Eskisehir, Turkey. He started to work as a Research Assistant at the University of Afyon Kocatepe, Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, in 2001. He performed his Ph.D. degree thesis work at the University of Palermo, Italy, and University of Anadolu from 2003 to 2010. Currently, he works as an Associate Professor at the University of Afyon Kocatepe (Turkey). He has published several papers and reviews in international journals, a book and 4 book chapters on many different areas of Heterogenous Photocatalysis, such as selective photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic oxidations, photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic remediation of harmful compounds, thin films, photocatalytic reactor applications, and preparation of new materials containing TiO2. He is an editor of Journal of Chemistry (SCI-Exp, I.F. 1.73) and Associate Editor of Journal of Photocatalysis. He has been also co-Editor of special issue of Catalysis Today (Heterogeneous Photocatalyis from fundamentals to possible applications, Vol. 281, 2017). He published 47 papers in prestigious journals (most of them), 4 book chapters in Elsevier and a book on photocatalysis. He is also co-author of 1 European patent. Citations 2100 and h index 22 (SCOPUS, October 2019).
