Efficient thermoelectric materials must have low thermal conductivity, high electrical conductivity and high Seebeck coefficient. Over the last couple of decades, significant progress has been made in the development of new highly efficient thermoelectric materials. Thermoelectricity and Advanced Thermoelectric Materials reviews these emerging materials including skutterudites, clathrates, and half-Heusler alloys. The book also discusses the number of oxides and silicides that have promising thermoelectric properties. Recently 2D materials with high figures of merit have emerged as promising candidates for thermoelectric applications so this is touched on in the book. Thermoelectricity and Advanced Thermoelectric Materials presents an updated introduction to the field of thermoelectric materials and discusses the recent advances in the materials synthesis, device modelling, and design. There is a substantial focus on the role of electronic structure in thermal and transport properties of materials, the strategies and methodologies for optimizing the thermoelectric performance of materials by electronic structure engineering, controlling electronic and thermal conductivities. The book also addresses the theoretical difficulties and methodologies of computing the thermoelectric properties of materials which can be used to understand and predict high efficient thermoelectric materials. About the Author Dr. Ranjan Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Physics at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - on leave from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. Dr. Kumar’s field of specialization is theoretical condensed matter physics, and his research interests include: Fullerenes and carbon materials, Heusler alloys for spintronic applications, dilute magnetic semiconductors, electronic and thermoelectric properties of materials, and superconductors. Dr. Ranber Singh is an Assistant Professor at the Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, India. Dr. Singh’s research interests include the theoretical study of nanostructured materials and other condensed matter systems.
