Description

Photonics, a volume in the Interface Transmission Tutorial Book series, describes the science of photonic transmission properties of the interfaces of composite materials systems and devices. The book's authors review the general analysis methods of interface transmission, give many examples, and apply these methods to photonic applications. Applications discussed include photonic crystals, materials, devices and circuits. Review A key reference on interface transmission properties and how they apply to photonic crystals, materials, devices, and circuits About the Author Leonard Dobrzynski, Emeritus Research Professor, CNRS, Lille University, France obtained his Doctorate from the University Paris, France. He started his scientific career at the Catholic University of Lille. He then joined the Atomic Energy Establishment in Saclay, the CNRS in Lille, the USA National Science Foundation, the University of California in Irvine, the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, the Spanish National Centre for Scientific Research in Madrid. He is co-founder of Surface Science Reports, co-author of Surface Phonons and Polaritons, Phononics, Magnonics and Photonics. Abdellatif Akjouj is Professor at the University of Lille in France. He received his PhD thesis in 1989 and his Habilitation à diriger des recherches in 1999 at the University of Lille. His scientific activities are dealing with theory and modelling of wave propagation and elementary excitations in nanostructured materials, more particularly: nanoplasmonics, photonics, magnonics, phononics and optomechanics. He is co-author of more than 160 research international publications and wrote 14 review articles and book chapters. He is co- author of Phononics (2018), Magnonics (2019) and Photonics (2020). Since 2018, he has been Director of the Physics Department at the University of Lille. Dr. El Houssaine El Boudouti is a Professor in the Department of Physics, Université Mohamed I, Oujda, Morocco. Dr. Gaëtan Lévêque is a Professor at the National Center for Scientific Research, Lille University 1, Villeneuve d'Ascq, France. Housni Al Wahsh is a Professor of Theoretical Physics and Head of Engineering Mathematics and Physics Department, Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, Cairo, Egypt. He received his PhD thesis in 1999 at the Institute of Atomic Energy, Warsaw, Swierk-Poland and his full professor degree from the supreme council of the Egyptian universities in 2010. He has published more than 60 papers in international refereed journals. His scientific activities deal with theory and modelling of wave propagations and elementary excitations in low-dimensional nanostructured materials, more specifically: magnonic crystals, electronic, phononic and plasmonic waveguides. He is co- author of Surface Science Reports, the Interface Transmission Tutorial Book Series: Phononics, Magnonics and Photonics. For several years he was a visiting researcher at the Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology Institute (IEMN), National Centre for Scientific Research, Lille University, France. He has been teaching advanced engineering mathematics for postgraduate students for many years.
