Review Includes numerous modern and promising technologies for carbon dioxide separation and capture using membranes About the Author Angelo Basile, a Chemical Engineer, is a senior Researcher at the ITM-CNR where he is responsible for research related to both the ultra-pure hydrogen production and CO2 capture using Pd-based Membrane Reactors. As of 2014, he also holds a full professor of Chemical Engineering Processes. Professor Basile’s h-index is 42, with 258 document results, cited by 2279 documents and 4478 total citations in the subject area: Energy, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering (www.scopus.com - Feb. 15, 2018). He has 140 scientific papers in peer to peer journals and 230 papers in international congresses; editor/author of more than 40 scientific books and 100 chapters on international books on membrane science and technology; 6 Italian patents, 2 European patents and 5 worldwide patents. He is referee of 116 int. scientific journals and Member of the Editorial Board of 22 of them. Professor Basile is also Editor associate of the Int. J. Hydrogen Energy and of the Asia-Pacific J. Chem. Eng., moreover Editor-in.-chief of the Int. J. Membrane Science & Technol. and Editor-in-chief of Membrane Processes (Applications), a section of the international journal Membranes. Professor Basile also prepared 25 special issues on membrane science and technology for many international journals (IJHE, Chem Eng. J., Cat. Today, etc.). He participated to and was/is responsible of many national and international projects on membrane reactors and membrane science. Professor Basile served as Director of the ITM-CNR during the period Dec. 2008 - May 2009. In the last years, he was tutor of 30 Thesis for master and Ph.D. students at the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Calabria (Italy). Evangelos P. Favvas is Petroleum Engineer and he belongs to the Research Staff of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in NCSR “Demokritos, Athens - Greece. His research interests embrace the experimental study of gas separation using membranes and sorbents with emphasis on hydrogen and carbon dioxide separations, as well as the insitu study of condensation process using the combination of X-ray scattering and adsorption techniques. He has also extended experience in the area of preparation and evaluation of new hybrid porous materials (metal doped silica based materials, CNTs, graphene, etc.) with emphasis on energy and environmental applications. The development of new processes and materials for the improvement of the physicochemical properties of conventional fuels and bio-fuels is also a branch of his scientific interests. During the last 4 years, he was tutor of 8 Thesis for master and Ph.D. Students at Greek Universities. He is author and co-author of 42 papers in peer review international journals, 2 book chapters, 2 patents and he has participated in 64 International and National conferences.
