The third book in the ASME Codes Simplified series, this technical reference provides expert advice for review and analysis of the ASME A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators, Escalators s and Moving Walks. Based on a popular continuing education course that is sponsored by the ASME and taught by the author, this book offers expert advice on all areas of vertical transportation: design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, alteration, inspection, and testing. The course also includes a review of the elevator and escalator requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). About the Author Patrick J. Welch is president of Vertical Transportation Excellence, an elevator consulting firm. He has been a member of the ASME A17.1 Escalator & Moving Walk committee. He is also a member of the Rack & Pinion/Special Purpose elevator committee and a corresponding member of the Existing Installation & Maintenance committees. Currently serves as the secretary of the American Public Transit Association Elevator Escalator Technical Forum and chairs the committees in charge of elevator, escalator, moving walk and maintenance guidelines for transportation facilities. Patrick J. Welch is also chair of the vertical transportation chapter of IEEE Std. 241.
