At the heart of the course is the Teacher’s Handbook and instruction video, providing all the 15-minutes’ Whole Class teaching required for daily mastery of phonics skills from Reception through to Year 2. Synopsis "Fun Phonics" is an interactive phonics teaching programme written to National Literacy Scheme directives for children from Reception to Year 2. It offers instruction to help the teacher day by day in the "Teacher's Handbook" as well as diagnostic tools and copymaster sheets for pre-reading practice, workbooks for reinforcement and consolidation of the skills and a training video. The scheme also has manipulatives in the form of "teacher-sized" letter cards depicting the 44 phonemes, and four posters depicting consonant and vowel digraphs, vowels, and consonants. There are four "Big Books" with traditional rhymes, the alphabet, consonant-vowel-consonant and consonant cluster rhymes. About the Author Carol Doncaster is a Primary School Teacher with 20 years’ experience. At present, she works in Renfrewshire as a home link teacher, identifying and developing appropriate strategies to help raise achievement and to sustain young children in education. Joyce Sweeney is Deputy Head Teacher at Baidbar Primary School in East Renfrewshire, Scotland, with responsibility for language, support for learning and educational needs. She has 20 years’ classroom teaching experience, most of which has been spent with the early stages of Primary School. She has additional qualifications in infant and nursery teaching.
