Product Description
mclusky, masters of razor-sharp wit, jagged riffs and unrelenting energy, return with their first new album in 20 years: the world is still here and so are we (may 9, ipecac recordings). having formed in the late nineteen-nineties and releasing music, if that is what it was, from 2000-2004, mclusky disbanded soon afterwards in a slow motion farce of not enough drama to get much press off the back of it. now they are back fuelled initially by spite but now enjoying it too much not to do it, and playing to crowds in the uk, us and australia which are much bigger - and more hygienically inclined - than in their so-called heyday. so far nobody has complained, except for one guy in leeds (and he was clearly on ketamine). it’s important to state that the world is still here and so are we is the fourth mclusky album (no qualification being needed). they had an asterisk next to the name for a bit - out of respect for past band members and the precious memorial glue of teenage musical crushes - but fuck that, in for a penny, in for a pound. lyrically it touches on subjects as rich and as varied as work-it-out-yourself and impenetrable-inside-joke-for-the-band, but one thing is clear, all of the songs have different words. all hilarious joking aside, the best songs are about things without being precisely about them. mclusky endorse this sentiment. they positively insist on it. the band will be kicking off the album release with a uk headline tour in may 2025, as well as uk & eu festivals throughout the summer, followed by more uk & eu headlining in the fall before heading to the us and australia. we’ll be rolling out four pre-release singles and videos ahead of the release to give everyone different tastes of the band’s indie rock/noise rock sound. the first two coming on the feb 12th launch with "way of the exploding dickhead" and "unpopular parts of a pig” .tracklist 1 unpopular parts of a pig 2 cops and coppers 3 way of the exploding dickhead 4 the battle of los angelsea 5 people person 6 the competent horse thief 7 kafka-esque novelist franz kafka 8 the digger you deep 9 autofocus on the prime directive 10 not all steeplejacks 11 chekhov's guns 12 juan party-system 13 hate the polis
