Nature’s Root Broccoli Sprouting Seeds (Raab / Rapini) Originally found in the Mediterranean, our Italian Raab (also known as Rapini) has been enjoyed across parts of Europe and Asia for centuries, including in Hong Kong and Italy. Only recently has it started gaining popularity more widely. Unlike mature broccoli (from the cabbage family), Raab is related to turnips, which is why its germination is very similar. Sprouted broccoli raab leaves resemble turnip greens, with a flavour that combines broccoli and spinach, with hints of mustard greens. Expect a complex, peppery, rich profile with subtle bitterness, warmth and nuttiness. These broccoli sprouting seeds can be grown in jars or trays, making it easy to produce a fresh batch at home. Days to Grow & Sprout Sprouts: 4–5 days Microgreens: 10–14 days Soaking time: 2–4 hours Yield: 1 tbsp of raw seed yields roughly 3–4 cups of sprouts Storage For best results, store your broccoli sprouting seeds in a cool, dry place such as a refrigerator or freezer. When stored correctly, seeds can continue to sprout for roughly a year after purchase. Sprouting Directions 1) Soak (2–4 hours) Place 1–2 Tbsp of seed into a wide-mouth bottle or jar. Secure a screen/mesh over the jar with a rubber band. Add water to cover the seeds and leave them in the jar overnight. 2) Drain & Rinse The next day, drain the water and refill with fresh water. Swirl gently, then drain again. Refill with enough water to fully submerge the seeds for 2–4 hours. Pour out the water once again and angle the jar slightly to allow drainage. 3) Repeat Repeat the rinse and drain process twice daily. 4) Ready to enjoy (4–5 days) Before refrigerating, ensure sprouts are fully drained and reasonably dry to help maintain freshness. Cover the opening of the container with a fine clean cloth and secure with a rubber band. Add enough warm water to completely cover seeds and soak overnight at room temperature. Next day, pour off excess water through the mesh cloth. Add fresh water to thoroughly rinse and drain. Rinse and drain sprouts at least twice a day.
