Product Description The multi-purpose mosquito stood with the Spitfire fighter and the Lancaster bomber and earned the respect of British pilots during World War II. In 1939, the De Havilland Company envisioned the aircraft as an unarmed high-speed bomber and had experience with the Comet, which was a wooden racing aircraft. With the exception of the engine and landing gear, the Mosquito was made of wood, offering strategic advantages. Wood construction saves on important metals such as aluminum, it can also be built in converted furniture factories. The Air Department was reluctant to adopt the wooden aircraft, but placed orders for 50 aircraft in March 1940 for reconnaissance use. In November 1940, the Mosquito reached a speed of 630 km/h during test flights, demonstrating its potential and quickly causing additional orders of 150 aircraft. The Mosquito PR MK reconnaissance aircraft I was first deployed in July 1941; the B Mk. The IV bomber began to be deployed in the spring of 1942. On May 31, 1942, mosquitoes led a Safety Warning product not recommended for children under 36 months
